The Optimist is the most popular type of racing sailboat for juniors up to 15yrs of age (or approximately 100lbs/45kg). The LaserPerformance Optimist has been designed to be safe, durable and competitive. The skills the Optimist fosters can be directly translated into other classes later on.
- Each boat carries three floatation bags, insuring a buoyant, self-righting boat.
- LaserPerformance uses the patented Plexus bonding agent to bond the hull and deck which provides strength and a watertight seal.
- Finally, we bond the entire Optimist (hull, bulkhead, rails, and thwart) together while they are in the mold. This ensures that our boat is as stiff, symmetric and smooth as possible.
