Spars: Optiparts Gold Spars are standard equipment on every Advanced Racer. Made from 7000 series aluminum and using only the highest quality cleats and lines, no Optimist spar can promise better performance. Sprit halyard and vang cleats are coated to prevent salt water damage and both are through bolted for unmatched reliability. The ball bearing hook in block is stainless steel and is the lightest and strongest available.
Blades: McLaughlin competition Blades are manufactured right here in our own production facility. Each is a composite construction of fiberglass and a foam core. Our daggerboard is laid up with .75 oz. cloth, then stiffened with longitudinal strips of 1.5 oz. unidirectional cloth, it's light and super stiff. Our elliptical rudders are designed to take the most advantage of the rules governing shape to produce a very fast blade.

Centerboard Trunk Inserts have been redesigned from a new die that has been perfectly shaped to the exact contour of the McLaughlin Optimist's centerboard trunk. Plus, we have developed a new adhesive that will ensure the inserts will stay in place for a very long time.
Teflon Liners have been added to the centerboard trunk to protect your blades and lower friction when raising and lowering the board. More importantly, the Teflon strips narrow the centerboard slot to it's absolute minimum width. The result is less slop, greater efficiency and higher pointing upwind.

Sails: North, Olimpic, Omega and Toni Tio racing sails are available in all cuts. Plus, when ordered with a boat, you get your choice, including the Omega 2 Sail Program, for just $375!
Spars: We will gladly customize your Advanced Racer with the spars of your choice. Switch to Opimax MKII ($50) or MKIII ($150).
Blades: Trade up to Tebbertman or E&V Foils for an additional $600.
Covers: 90% of the damage done to Optimists occurs on land, covers and dollies are the very best way to protect you investment. A good cover and dolly will pay for themselves in resale value within 12 months.
